Houses for sale in East Kilbride

East Kilbride was named Scotland's first new town in 1947 and lies to the South-East of Glasgow. It's both a dormitory town for Glasgow and also a commercial centre in its own right.

Houses in East Kilbride are sought after as property prices tend to be lower than in surrounding areas such as Glasgow and East Renfrewshire.

The town centre consists mainly of a shopping area comprising 6 linked malls. However a redevelopment project has been given the go-ahead by South Lanarkshire Council which will see the introduction of a new civic centre, health centre, shopping centre and an arts and culture complex.

East Kilbride is connected to Glasgow and surrounding areas by both rail and road. It has become well known for its road structure containing many roundabouts and is sometimes referred to as "roundabout city".
